READ – Rights Education and Development Centre works with industries in Coimbatore, Tirupur, and Erode districts to strengthen safe and dignified workplaces for women workers. Under the POSH Act 2013 (Prevention of Sexual Harassment at Workplace Act), READ supports companies in forming Internal Complaints (IC) Committees as mandated for workplaces with more than 10 employees. READ is also a member of several IC Committees, providing external support and guidance to ensure effective implementation of the Act and protection of women workers’ rights. In collaboration with industries, READ conducts awareness sessions and capacity-building programs on workplace safety, gender equality, and legal rights. The organization also provides life skills training for industry workers to improve confidence, communication, and well-being. To promote workers’ health, READ organizes regular medical camps and health awareness activities. With the support of the District Social Welfare Office, READ has also initiated “Pink Box” programs to support menstrual hygiene and health among women workers in industrial communities.
