READ – Rights Education and Development Centre works with migrant worker communities in Tirupur, Erode, Dindigul, and Namakkal districts of Tamil Nadu. A large number of migrant families from Jharkhand, Bihar, Odisha, and West Bengal face challenges related to education, healthcare, social protection, language barriers, and workplace harassment. To support migrant children, READ operates Migration Education Centres with volunteers who teach in the children’s own languages, helping them continue their learning in a safe and inclusive environment. READ also facilitates school enrolment in collaboration with the Education Department and provides educational and sports materials to encourage regular participation in learning activities. In the health sector, READ organizes regular medical camps, distributes nutrition health mix powder for children and families, and creates awareness about health and hygiene. The organization also supports migrant workers in accessing ESI cards and strengthens coordination with ESI dispensaries and government health departments to improve healthcare access and social security for migrant communities.
