A solar-powered borewell project aimed at improving the livelihoods of tribal communities was inaugurated at Gethesal tribal village under Hasanur panchayat in the forest area of the Sathyamangalam Tiger Reserve on Thursday.
Implemented by Sathyamangalam-based non-governmental organisation Rights Education and Development Centre (READ), its director R. Karuppasamy said the project was executed at a cost of ₹6.8 lakh and would directly benefit six tribal farmers in the village.
